April 2006: In March, Ballert’s President, Gene Bernardoni, hosted Dr. Takashi Yamauchi, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder surgery at Ehime University Hospital in Japan. During his 10-day visit to Chicago, Dr. Yamauchi had the opportunity to observe and attend surgeries, clinics, conferences and Grand Rounds at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) and Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital. Dr. Irwin Siegel of Rush and Dr. Jason Koh of NMH were two of the local physicians who gave freely of their time to enhance this valuable learning experience for Dr. Yamauchi, whose visit is the latest in an exchange that began several years ago when Dr. Siegel and Mr. Bernardoni were invited to speak at a conference on orthotics and neuromuscular disease at Ehime University Hospital .
